Not so good week

Last week wasn't the best week ever. It started okay with having a day off on Monday. But then on Tuesday morning we got an invitation to a company meeting 2 hours later. This happened to me before and then the whole company got laid off. So I was scared. We didn't get laid off but there were still bad news. Our CTO is leaving the company and moving to France. So I don't have a direct boss starting next week. In addition he is also a good friend and I'm very sad.
Then Wednesday, I guess you all know what happened Wednesday. Germany lost the half final, again I'm very sad.
The rest of the week was okay, but somehow I was really stressed and freaked out over tiny unimportant things. I'm so sorry for Gerald.
Let's hope this week will be better, but it doesn't look good right now. I'm stuck in the BART (the subway) because there was an medical emergency in the next station :-(
At least I have something to look forward next week. My sister will be visiting.

Happy 4th of July

We had a three day weekend which was really nice. I love that holidays get observed on the Friday before or the Monday after the holiday if it falls on the weekend.
On Saturday we got up early to watch the Germany game, which was a real pleasure. Then we did some grocery shopping at the farmers market, the German store and our local grocery market. In the afternoon I went to the day spa and got a pedicure, a manicure and my eye brows threaded. It's so relaxing if somebody else pampers you ;-)

Sunday morning I baked a strawberry cake and in the afternoon and evening we went to two parties. Unfortunately the weather wasn't playing along, the fog came in and it was really cold. We couldn't see much of the fireworks, but it was still a lot of fun catching up with old friends.

Yesterday we slept in, finally. For lunch we BBQ-ed some burgers and corn in our garden.
Gerald worked in the afternoon and I made peach jam from peaches of our garden.

There are still many peaches left on the tree, so I have to make more jam during the week.

And last but not least a new picture of me

It's a girl

We had our big ultrasound appointment on Monday and learned we are having a girl. Everything is perfect and she is beautiful, but look for yourself.

Now we have to find a name. We will try to find something that's pronounced more or less the same in English and in German. Any ideas?

The rest of last week was pretty quite without my hubby. I went with a few friends to the movies. We saw the A-Team.
And there was a big Russian war ship in San Francisco. A few coworkers and I had planned to visit it but the line was way too long.

This weekend is 4th of July. We are invited to two parties both houses have great views over the bay, so let's hope the weather will be nice and we can enjoy the fireworks.
Because the holiday is on a Sunday most of the companies observe it on Monday. In other words we get Monday off :-)
